NFT Review is a weekly newsletter covering NFTs in the Web3 ecosystem on Polkadot’s side of the woods. The newsletter is put together by Bruno Škvorc and gbaci.

For a more general overview of the Web3 ecosystem, consider subscribing to Dot Leap.

Looking for a primer on NFTs? This should be the last introduction you’ll ever need.

Dear NFT enthusiast,

Last week, Decentraland’s DAO voted to make a donation to the Blender Foundation, the organization behind the open-source 3D creation tool. We think this is a big deal for various reasons.

Coming off the back of Mark Zuckerberg’s move for the metaverse, it has become clear that if we are going to have the free and open metaverse we dream of, we have to do more to protect our interests.

Nothing says protection like ensuring the evolution and freedom tools used for building. It is vital, beyond all else, that key tools don’t belong to anyone (person, company, country, or group).

Blender is an open-source 3D generation/modeling tool used by many artists across different disciplines—gaming, film, NFT, metaverse, etc. To secure its future is to secure future freedom for all who will rely on it. This will avoid the terrible fate of a project changing the terms of service after the fact (as Autodesk, Blender’s biggest competition, has done by adopting a pay-as-you-go model regardless of user sentiment).

Thank you for reading and have a great week.

👨🏼‍🎨  RMRK Artist Spotlight: Valentine Kitchenzky and His Talking Heads (w/ Grood)

On this episode of RAS, we spoke to Valentine Kitchenzky, a Latvian digital artist who loves to collaborate with others. He is most known in the RMRKverse for his Talking Heads Collection (THC) in collaboration with Grood. He first came on our radar during the Kanaria art contest. He submitted two birds that were liked enough by the Kanaria community to be voted into the top 40 entries.

Our conversation with Kitchenzky was a really interesting one. We talked about his art and NFT journey, his love of collaboration, his creative process, sources of inspiration, and more.

.@neos_vr had to remove all token functionality from builds distributed on Steam because of Valve's new rules on crypto. App stores are like armed checkpoints and toll booths, doesn't matter how benevolent the leader of the store is web is the only guarantee of fair distribution.
