📮 RMRK Ecosystem Updates
RMRK launches Kanaria
In March, the RMRK team launched Kanaria, a fundraiser for the RMRK Association which distributes unique NFT eggs that will hatch into unique and rare Kanaria birds (canaries) with special upgradable traits. These birds are composable limited-edition NFTs (max 9999) that can evolve with the platforms around them, and offer permanent platform benefits to their holders, based on some traits they own. They also entitle their owners to a fairdrop of $RMRK tokens. All 9,999 eggs are grouped into four categories with varying benefits. The team put out a number of articles to cover everything about Kanaria:
FUN FACT: In developing the birds' full functionality, the RMRK team accidentally built the most advanced NFT system in the world by creating "art legos" that let you build an NFT system of arbitrary complexity:
NFTs owning NFTs
NFTs governed as DAOs via shareholder tokens (issue commands to NFTs democratically) (coming when we transition to Unique)
NFTs having multiple priority-ordered client-dependent resources (a book with a cover and an audio version)
NFTs being emoted to (on-chain emotes), allowing early price discovery without listing, selling, bidding.
NFTs with conditional rendering (on-NFT logic allowing different visuals and resources to trigger depending on on-chain and off-chain conditions).
RMRK partners with Karura, Moonriver, Khala, and more
With Kusama parachain auctions around the corner and crowdloans already pre-happening, the RMRK team has been able to secure some additional benefits for Kanaria egg holders in various Substrate-based ecosystems—Karura (Acala’s canary network), Khala (Phala’s canary network), Zeitgeist, Unique Network, and Bit.Country.
DAO votes to reduce the number of hatchlings needed to hatch an egg from 10 to 3
The Kanaria DAO, the first DAO on Kusama (excluding Kusama itself and Kappa Sigma Mu) successfully voted on its first proposal: reducing the number of required hatchling 🐣 emoji to make an egg viable for hatching from 10 to 3. This was a landmark achievement because it was the first time an NFT DAO voted with the power of their NFTs.
RMRK launches Singular
After a long wait, the RMRK team was proud to launch Singular, its official NFT minting and trading UI. The interface lets users mint NFTs, list them for sale, trade with others, and even send emotes to theirs or other people's NFTs. All in all, it is a RMRKable NFT experience that you can only appreciate by trying it for yourself.
Egg burnings, bird hatchings, and a lot of fun!
On June 1st, a one-of-a-kind event, the Hou-ou festival, will be taking place on Kusama. During this 30-day event, all unclaimed Kanaria eggs will be burnt, while the claimed eggs will hatch into magnificent-looking birds. After the 30th day, all eggs (9,999) will be burnt or hatched into a bird (if claimed).
Hatching tip for egg holders: every egg needs to collect at least 3 🐣 emojis (emotes) before it can hatch!
