Last week Bill Gates came down on NFTs, claiming that it’s an asset class whose only value lies in exploiting the 'greater fool theory'. According to Gates, NFTs are only popular because people expect to be able to sell them for a higher price. On the surface, he is 100% right. However, things are not always as they seem on the surface. There are different kinds of participants in the NFT space. While most of them may be only interested in flipping, there are others who are dedicated to NFTs because they seek to create value through them. The flippers can be seen as value extractors, while the builders and genuine adopters are value creators.
Asides from Gates’ comment, it has been an eventful week on the RMRK side of the world as the first phase of the long-anticipated Skybreach land sale went live. With only a couple days of sales, over 370,805 $xcRMRK has been spent on 3370 / 25,000 lands.
