This week saw the evolution of real estate into an on-chain activity with the sale of a house as an NFT for $175,000. The rental property located in Columbia was sold on the Roofstock onChain NFT marketplace by transferring the Home onChain identity to an ETH address owned by Adam Slipakoff the house buyer.
Think about that for a moment. A house was bought as NFT. Interesting times. We will see more news like this as various teams are building real-world asset marketplaces. Already, a new crypto-themed house has been listed for $1.2m.
NFTs are bound to make many traditionally illiquid assets (assets that are difficult to sell because of immobility or other factors) liquid by creating global markets for them. And the best part is that because the transactions occur on the blockchain, there is near-zero friction in making or receiving payments.
